When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
Our policy
When a story contains a factual error, we correct it as soon as it is confirmed. A note at the end of the story explains what was changed and when. Minor fixes of spelling or style that do not change meaning are not noted.
If an error is serious enough that the story's central point no longer holds, we say so at the top of the story.
